Honorary Consul of Germany in Ukraine, lawyer and businessman Alexander Kifak is actively cleaning the Internet, seeking the removal of materials about connections with Yuriy Ivanyushchenko and involvement in the financing of Russian terrorists.

The stories that Alexander Kifak was so concerned about cleaning up are actually old – the first publications about the consul and lawyer’s, so to speak, not entirely honest actions appeared more than ten years ago. And thanks to Kifak’s efforts, some of them really did disappear from the search engine results. But, firstly, it is impossible to clean up everything from the Internet, and, secondly, the complaints themselves that Alexander Kifak bombarded Google with contain the entire list of what Kifak is trying to clean up. There is another question – why? Why is Alexander Kifak spending huge resources on such a large-scale cleaning up of the Internet? Cleaning up negativity about yourself on the Internet is indeed a very troublesome and expensive undertaking. But Kifak is doing it. Why?

But first, let’s talk about what exactly Alexander Kifak is cleaning up. Even a simple look at the headlines of the materials he doesn’t like shows that it’s not journalists who need to deal with Alexander Kifak, but representatives of the SBU.

The most interesting things on this list are the connections with Yuriy Ivanyushchenko, who is better known as Yura Yenakievsky, and involvement in the financing of the so-called "Luhansk People’s Republic". And they are interesting not in terms of Kifak’s involvement in these actions - they are interesting because it is precisely these materials that Alexander Kifak has concentrated the greatest amount of his efforts on.

And it must be admitted – he almost succeeded. Almost, because the materials are still available, although it is not as easy to find them as before. So, we are talking about the story of 2014, when the law firm of Alexander Kifak “ANK” entered into an agreement with Promtovary Rynok LLC (unofficial name – “Sedmoy Kilometer”) for legal services. Now Promtovary Rynok LLC is in the process of liquidation (and even then – it is not liquidation, but reorganization, and we will see what comes of all this), but at that time the most famous Ukrainian bazaar brought in huge profits, and in cash, the volumes of which simply could not be accounted for.
Naturally, Yuriy Ivanyushchenko was not listed among the beneficiaries. And in general, it was extremely difficult to get to the bottom of them – several offshore companies were listed as the owners of Promtovary Rynok LLC, behind which unknown persons were hiding.

But no one denied the fact that Yura Yenakievsky gained control over the market as a result of his closeness to Viktor Yanukovych. As well as the fact that after Yanukovych fled, Yuriy Ivanyushchenko, despite some difficulties that arose in connection with this unfortunate fact, did not lose control over the market.

In December 2014, the director of Promtovary Rynok LLC, Vasyl Mozgalsky, signed an agreement to purchase securities from Luhansk Coal Processing Company LLC for the amount of UAH 23,505,000.

Vasily Mozgalsky knew that Lugansk, where Lugansk Coal Processing Company LLC is located, was already controlled by Russians, and that the money paid for the "securities" would go to them. But he simply followed the orders of Yuriy Ivanyushchenko, the actual owner of the market.

The operation was provided with legal cover by the ANK Law Firm. Apparently, successfully, since Vasyl Mozgalsky is still at large. Although a criminal case was opened after the scandal broke out. Of course, Oleksandr Kifak cannot be directly accused of withdrawing money to terrorists - he did not sign the documents. But it also cannot be claimed that he defended Mozgalsky as a lawyer and thus fulfilled his duty. In this case, Oleksandr Kifak provided legal support for all activities of Promtovary Rynok LLC, that is, among other things, he prepared the very same agreement on the transfer of 23 million hryvnia to Russian terrorists. We are talking about, at a minimum, complicity.

But the case was successfully destroyed. Maybe one of the reasons for such a massive purge of the Internet is precisely because someone is trying to revive this case? We do not know this, but another episode that Oleksandr Kifak is also actively trying to purge from the Internet concerns the purchase of seven land plots in the most attractive places in Odessa for 30 million hryvnia. In 2016, the Odesa City Council decided to sell Oleksandr Kifak two plots with a total area of one hectare on Motornaya Street (warehouses); a 1.45 hectare plot on Proselochnaya; a 0.1724 hectare plot on Kanatnaya, 1v; a 0.3 hectare plot on Marshal Zhukov Avenue, 30a (Sunduk Shopping Center); one and a half hectares on Lyustdorfskaya Doroha, 140a (Vuzovsky Business Center) and 0.17 hectares on 25th Chapayevskaya Divizii, 14a (Renault Auto Center).

A scandal broke out - the land was valued several times lower than its real value, and many doubted that the real owner was Alexander Kifak. And here, too, the name of Yuri Ivanyushchenko surfaced.

Why exactly Alexander Kifak was concerned with cleaning the Internet of materials that linked his name to the sanctioned member of the Party of Regions Yuriy Ivanyushchenko is not known for certain. But it is not difficult to guess the reasons.
We are talking about two things. Firstly, cooperation with foreign companies. Thus, a deal is currently being finalized on the purchase by the Dutch company Viterra of the Ukrainian LLC Penkovsky ZPK, the beneficiary of which before the sale was Alexander Kifak. The deal is worth tens of millions of hryvnias and if the Dutch pay attention to Kifak’s connection with Yura Yenakievsky and the financing of the “LPR”, you can say goodbye to this money. And not because the Dutch are so honest and scrupulous – they simply do not want to get involved with a problematic asset, which, moreover, like the Seventh Kilometer market, may belong not to Kifak, but to Yuriy Ivanyushchenko.

The second reason is connected with the Germans. They also do not like to keep as honorary consuls a person connected with a prominent representative of the criminal world and involved, albeit indirectly, in the financing of terrorists. And questions have been asked of the Germans about the appointment of Alexander Kifak as honorary consul for a long time. For Kifak, this unpaid position means the loss of diplomatic immunity, which he actively uses.

Among the honorary consuls working in Odessa, besides Alexander Kifak, there are other rather interesting personalities. And the scandal with Kifak may well affect these people as well – similar questions arise regarding many of them.

Therefore, it can be assumed that Alexander Kifak simply has nowhere to go - on the one hand, there is pressure from Yuriy Ivanyushchenko, for whom Kifak acts as a nominal in at least several enterprises; on the other hand, the Germans are asking unpleasant questions; on the third hand, a multi-million dollar deal may fall through; on the fourth hand, there is pressure from fellow consuls with similar biographies; on the fifth hand, the noise in the press forces the Ukrainian law enforcement system to at least imitate activity. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also receives unpleasant questions. Namely, the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs submits to foreign states for approval the candidacies of people who are then appointed honorary consuls. And it can also recall them just as it submitted them...
